I found a series of videos on building a cloud guitar on YouTube that was uploaded by Stygian Shane. He says he's building it for a client of his and the videos span about 6 months in early 2011. He seems to be a great craftsman and very knowledgeable on a variety of wood working techniques! If your trying to build your own cloud guitar and your a little unsure on how to get going this just might help! I'm curious on how it turned out!

Scope this.........yet another amazing replica of his royal badness from the MTV Video Music Awards back in 91' and as you might remember he had his own wardrobe malfunction except it wasn't a malfunction at all! Troy Gua never ceases to amaze me as well as thousands of others with his creations. This one comes complete with the yellow cloud guitar which was also hand made by Troy....it's just 2 perfect!

Seriously....how amazing are these figures of Prince? Troy Gua has captured his face exactly....he's a true artist! More amazing than his likeness of prince is all the detail in the clothes and guitars right down to the opalescent paint on the white cloud! I've seen a few other Prince figures over the years but this is by far the best I've seen! His reproduction of the Hohner guitar is as amazing as the cloud! I'm sure this won't be the last we see of his artwork.....I can't wait to see what Price era he does next but for now let's all enjoy these! L.T.'s New Yellow Cloud!

L.T. has finished his new yellow cloud guitar and it looks amazing! It's still unnamed at the moment but L.T. joked about calling it "The Smithsonian" in reference of the one that was donated a few years back! This could be the twin to that cloud! I loce the symbols between the frets (I gotta get some of those) Maybe he can call it "Agent Smith"...or the "Gett Off" Cloud or The "Yellow Fury"....I could go on and on! Down below are some photos of this cloud in production up til the finished product! Great job L.T., enjoy it!

Ok.....this is the first time I have heard this story......no, it's not a cloud but I thought it was interesting! This ESP guitar is up for auction and it says it was made for Prince for the "ATWIAD video......? As far as I know there wasn't a video for that song but if I know Prince he might of shot one but it's collecting dust in the vault! The fact that they say "in one day" made me laugh and think that it might not be true but it still got me curious....does anybody have any info on this?

Most of the guitars you see on display like this are in Hard Rock Cafe's around the world. They were either donated or purchased for the displays! The plaque on the white cloud guitar reads....

"This white cloud guitar with gold hardware was commissioned by Prince, but not delivered due to malfunctioning pickups"

I'm not sure why they couldn't fix the pickups but that just one of those storys we might never understand.

The EVH inspired Cloud guitar is finished! I can't think of a more wild but cool combination of Rock & Funk! Instead of the 5150 numbers below the bridge he has the 1999 numbers which I thought was a great idea! Sorry to say this one is already spoken for but I know it will have a great home. Having one of these would be great but both? How cool would it be to have twin cloud guitars in both black and white! Duck Mosmans is the lucky guy who has them both and to top it off he got them both for $600.00! They are both Edwards cloud guitars and Duck has changed the black hardware on the white clous from black to white as you can see in the bottom photo. Thats a great pair of bookends if you ask me! All That Glitters Ain't So!

Yesterday this mysterious photo appeared over on prince.org and I have to say it had me a little excited at first.....the date on the photo said 2009 and it was obviously a cloud guitar and what appeared to be Prince even though he is hidden in the shadows!

I followed up and searched for more photos of this and found a full photo of the cloud and a mirror shot of a Prince impersonator who must have been doing a gig at the time. Damn....I wanted it to be true but it wasn't to be! How weird is it that I had just posted the Superbowl commercial of what I think is one of the last sightings of the cloud! All that aside I have to say this impersonator has a great looking cloud! I'll try to track down some more photos of it if I can!

The Superbowl promo commercial is one of the last known sightings of the cloud guitar but as we all know he ended up using the symbol guitar the Hohner and the Fender.....almost everything but the cloud! Why Prince Why?

OOH! What A Cloud!

"OOH" is the name of the band that Matthew Hodge plays in up in northern California and he will bring out his custom cloud guitar in occasion to jam with! This is a truly unique cloud guitar and I've seen alot! From what I can tell it is more of a cream color with a funky swirl circling around the duel pick-ups! Matthew tells me that it's a Pro Ceed (by Edwards/ESP)- Sugizo custom. On the head it has a double curl instead of one which gives it even more uniqueness! It also is sporting some cool designs between the frets! This is an all around cool cloud guitar and this band has a new fan!

That's what Douglas, the new owner of this brand new beautiful peach cloud told me! He had it custom made by Bell Custom Guitars and from what I understand they will custom build one for you to your exact specs......I think I'll be calling them soon! The peach cloud was always one of my favorite color clouds but any color would be good for me! The price will depend on what you want but from what I've seen on their website it might be around $2,500.00 and up but still well worth it in my book! I can't believe I've missed their website for so long so thanks again to Douglas for sharing his photos and giving hope to those cloud lovers who have been desperately looking for one!

It's not playable but it's a great recreation of the Kid's famous white cloud from the movie Purple Rain! Den will be using it as a prop on stage and with the detail in it I don't think anyone could even tell it's a prop! He used the real hardware on it and even real strings and with the cost of the wood he tells me it almost cost as much as the real thing! It's a great work of art in my opinion....another cloud is born!

A very cool and rare "Red" cloud guitar! I've only seen and posted one other Red Cloud but that was was just a thin mock up of the cloud made to hang on a wall. This would of been perfect for the LRC performance at Montruex Jazz festival! This reminds me of the cover and model on the madhouse albums! Thanks to Rick Knight for sharing this photo!

I finally located the source of these figurines that I posted a few weeks ago (see link below). It's from a Japanese website and I think it's related to the Kazuo art that we have been seeing for quite a few years now or it might possibly be Kazuo himself! I'm not quite sure because I can't read the text but I'm sure someone out there will let me know! These are some really great and detailed works of art in my opinion especially with the guitars! He has also fashioned a few Symbol guitars as well as the Hohner! Like I've said before....there doesn't seem to ba an end to the cloud guitar life as long as these artists keep creating! Come on Prince dust your clouds off and give us a show!

Purple Rain Cloud Guitar Cake

Wow! That's all I have to say about this beautiful birthday cake! This birthday cake was ordered by a big Prince fan who had to be very happy when she saw it for the first time. The details are just amazing from the purple rose petals to the motorcycle with the the Kid & Apollonia on it to the main feature, the white cloud guitar! It almost looks like you could pick it up and play it! Believe it or not I have posted a few prince inspired cakes on this blog but this on takes the cake (Yeah I know that pun was lame)! "Made Fresh Daily Cakes" are the creators of this beautiful cake and I'll put the link down below so you can see more pictures of this and some other wonderful creations from them. I have a feeling they may be getting a few Purple pastry orders!

Lost Cloud Art

I had almost forgotten about this drawing I did of Gemini from the Batdance video years ago. I remember watching the premiere of the video in my dorm room and blown away by it! Normally my room was packed with people but I watched it alone that night....I guess they didn't realize the importance of the moment....LOL! I was so inspired by the video that I drew this up in just a few hours! Not long after this I transferred to another base and had it packed away in one of my sketchbooks! It ended up in a box in my sisters basement for the last 20 years (thanks April) until I picked it up last Christmas. When I went through my stuff I came across it again and it was like seeing it for the first time! I had totally forgotten I even drew it and to see it with the black cloud guitar displayed dead in the center of it was a nice surprise!

I hoped it would scan well and with a little touching up here it is! I know I'm not the best artist in the world but I tried to capture that bat moment in time!

If any of you are as old as I am you should remember the Dire Straits video and song "Money For Nothing"! Well Eric Beck did a digital likeness of the Kid with his Iconic white cloud in the same style as that video! As soon as I saw it brang back some great memories of the 80's.....man they played this video to death (when the used to play videos) but it was good to hear it again and even better with this great work of art to go with it! Interactive Clouds

These screen shots were taken from the Prince Interactive CD. I just recently looked through it again and discovered that in the club area there are a circle of different color cloud guitars on the wall! Hmmmm....I think I might have to do some redecorating. I wish it was a better resolution so i could enlarge it but it was considered hi res in 94'! Anyway I thought it was a cool cloud sighting....thank goodness it wasn't lost forever!

Jesseblu sent me photos as he was building Jem-N-eye and I got more excited every time I got a new one! When I first saw it would be a double cloud my jaw hit the floor then I saw that he inserted LED lights in the fret mark dots and it blew my mind! I love the fact that it's a guitar and a sitar! It came together nicely and it's something I know Jesseblu will enjoy his beautiful Cloud guitar for a long time to come!

From Jesseblu........the 'grand unveiling' of 'Honey'- My personal 'Cloud' guitar.. I first got the idea last September when I was in so much pain all the time (kidney stones), and it was an excellent diversion!.. The top neck is a sitar, the bottom, a standard electric.. (Christina came up with 'Gemini', which I re-spelled {Jem-N-eye) according to the traditions of Our Purple Yoda.. I think that might be the one that sticks over 'honey' since His Purple Attitude IS in fact, a Gemini

The all maple beasty IS a bit hefty (but happily balanced- Many double necks are 'neck heavy'- Not this one!), but sounds friggin' awesome! All that maple vibrating with every note! Aside from primo pickups, etc., I opted for the 'Tone Styler' module from Stellartone rather than a conventional tone knob- It's WELL worth it, as I can get this thing to go as dark as any Gibson hollow body with a few clicks without it sounding like somebody's put a pillow over your speakers- AND it's passive!
Right on with the purple LED's (they show up slightly blue in pics- in some light, it looks almost white, but it's as close to purple as mere mortals can manage) Great for dark stages!

Here's a great Prince doll or action figure....I'm not sure exactly what to call it but this one is featured with the Blue Angel Cloud! I wish I had more details about who created this and where it was made but I don't, but if I had to guess I think it's Japanese. It has some great detail in the face from what I can see. I think whoever did it they did a great job especially with the mini cloud! If I come across any info about it I'll pass it on!
