Orange Cloud Mystery Solved!
We have all seen this photo for years which appeared around the time Prince was to do the Superbowl.
We all assumed that was what he was gonna use but he opted for the purple symbol instead. Had never seen another pic of it....until now! They do not mention anything about the Super Bowl but at least now I know it exists!

Jim Irsay Buys Prince Cloud for 137.5K?
Cloud Controversy? Well I guess it is to everyone except Clots Owner Jim Irsay! It seems that he recently purchased a yellow cloud guitar in a Beverly Hills auction for a reported 137.5K What? I know right.....that's crazy but that's what is was sold for.
The problem starts (at least for me) with the photo that comes with the story. don't get me wrong it's a beautiful cloud but I have never seen a yellow cloud or any cloud that was used by Prince that had a whammy bar on it and there seems to be a missing output jack in the swirl at the bottom of the guitar where it would and should be and the pic's with Prince holding it the knobs are always black.

I have a feeling that it was one of the many replicas that were made and put on display at places like the HardRock Cafe'. Maybe someone decided to add on a different bridge and whammy bar because it looked "Cool"? Who knows......but what I do know is that the only real yellow cloud that was given away from Prince / Paisley Park in any official way was to the Smithsonian Institute. This is pretty well documented. Also the yellow cloud was available for purchase through the NPG catalog for 5K for a limited time.
I have almost 90 yellow cloud guitar posts on this blog and none of them resemble that guitar. Now I'm not saying that I've seen them all but maybe Prince had one made like this but he just never used it on stage like the infamous and mysterious orange cloud guitar that was rumored to be used during his Superbowl performance but wasn't and was never heard from again. Prince usually had many of the same guitars at his disposal if he needed them so maybe this was just one of those?
Well it's rumored that he paid 2.2 Milliom for Ringo's drum kit so a yellow Prince cloud guitar seems like chump change for him. I can't even comprehend spending money on that level but I guess everything is relative. I'm sure there will be more to this story as time goes on but next time Jim feel free to drop me a e-mail. I'll help on what ever way I can!

Kevin's Cloud!
Yeah.....I have to say I'm a little jealous but I appreciate Kevin letting me post the photos of his Tangerine Cloud! This is the one made by L.T. that's in the previous post. It's a beautiful guitar from top to bottom so you better hold on to it Kevin....I know alot of cloud-0-philes that would love to have it! There are also some photos of this work of art being built that I'll do in a separate post.

I love the gold symbol fret marks as well!
I would love to know the signifigance of the #1 at the top of the neck Kevin?

Tangerine Dream Cloud
L.T. has been busy building another Cloud! This Tangerine Cloud is just as beautiful as the Prince Orange Cloud! The white pick-ups as well as the white panels on the back really make it stand out! he has recently sold this Cloud but I will try to get some more photos of it real soon!

The Orange Cloud
This may be the only post about the Orange Cloud on this blog for some time unless someone can find more photos of this guitar or until Prince starts using it! To my knowledge this is the only known photograph of the elusive Orange Cloud. I'm not sure when it was made but I would think that it would of been perfect for the 3121 album and for the Fury Video! Maybe he just changed his mind like he usually does or maybe it's not his guitar at all!
I've heard people say it's a fake but to me it looks pretty authentic....right down to the symbols between the frets. That purple guitar strap adds to the mystery as well....although I know he uses one for the purple symbol guitar "Habibi" the fact that a purple strap is laying across the case makes me believe it is real. If anyone else comes across this orange beauty let me know and send me the info and I'll post it on this blog.
